Start Sam Bradford, sit Cam Newton in Week 1

A common mistake that many fantasy football owners make is to overanalyze matchups. Even as early as Week 1, before the dust has settled from the draft, people have a tendency to overreact and try to find reasons to bench key starters that they drafted in the early rounds.

In cases like that, generally sticking with your studs is the right choice. You selected them early for a reason, so don’t be too quick to sit consistent contributors for a desirable matchup that, quite frankly, might not be applicable when no real games have been played.

For deeper leagues, or teams that have legitimate roster concerns, there might be the need to exploit favorable matchups to determine the proper lineup for the season opener. If you find yourself in that kind of bind for Week 1, this start/sit list might help you make the correct call to get that all-important first victory.

Sam Bradford, QB Eagles (@Atlanta) – Most people drafted Bradford as the second part of a committee or as a high risk/reward option later on. Either way, you’ll want to try to get him into your lineups this week. Bradford looked superb all preseason guiding Philadelphia’s high-octane attack, which is loaded with fantasy-friendly talent. The Eagles also have a prime matchup with an Atlanta secondary that finished last season as the NFL’s worst unit and was bottom-10 against opposing fantasy signal-callers.

Having swung for the fences with both Bradford and Tannehill (at appropriate rounds/values), I’m glad to see him as a start. Both appear to have great matchups, but with Philly’s offense and Atl’s defense, it’s hard to argue.

I have Rivers and Bradford. Their week projections are damn near identical, so I’m struggling on who to start. I’m leaning towards Bradford but I’ve seen Bortles have a great preseason before and suck after.

I had Cam up until 10 minutes ago when I dropped him and picked up Bradford. I now have Manning and Bradford, the latter I will start on Monday night.

Cowell is the ultimo hombre in Cleveland. Duke Johnson seems destined to tease. The coaching staff in Cleveland needs to drop their pissy attitude.
