StarStreet Pick 5 for Week 16
Josh Collacchi examines this week's Pick 5, and an interesting statistic about Tony Romo.
StarStreet Pick 5 for Week 16
One of my favorite games over at StarStreet is their Pick 5, which you can play for free each week to win a ticket to other daily games or for money.
The game is simple. There’s five player vs. player matchups, and you pick who you think will score more that week. The best part is that you can play straight from our site by clicking here.
Pick 5 is a great way to earn some extra cash for holiday shopping, as a 5/5 perfect Pick 5 can earn you 20 times your bet, bet $1 to win $20, $5 for $100 etc.
Here’s this week’s Pick 5:
Drew Brees vs. Nick Foles
Matthew Stafford vs. Tony Romo
Matt Forte vs. Marshawn Lynch
A.J. Green vs. Josh Gordon
Antonio Brown vs. Alshon Jeffery
There’s some pretty tough choices here, but here are my picks for Week 16:
Drew Brees vs. the Panthers
Brees and Foles have been two of the best fantasy quarterbacks in the second half of the season, but Drew Brees cannot be picked against. The Panthers defense is among the NFL’s best, but the Saints need a win to all but lock up the division, and when Sean Payton needs a win, he relies on his best option, Drew Brees and that passing game. One thing many misunderstand is Luke Kuechly’s ability to cover. He is rated as a -2.2 in pass coverage, and will have a tall task (literally) in Jimmy Graham this week. Expect a typical Drew Brees performance of well over 300 yards and a few touchdowns.
Matthew Stafford vs. the Giants
Tony Romo faces the Redskins who have a terrible secondary, so that would seem like the easy pick, right? Wrong. Since 2008, Tony Romo has played 10 games against the Redskins. In these games, PFF grades his a combined -5.7, and since Week 16 of 2009, Romo has only graded positively one time, which was a 0.8 in Week 11 of 2011. Start Stafford against the Giants this week.
Matt Forte vs. the Eagles
While Marshawn Lynch has a tough matchup against a very good Cardinals front seven, Matt Forte is nearly matchup-proof. Especially in StartStreet’s PPR scoring system. The Eagles have been burned this season on running back screens and swing routes, which are two of Forte’s specialties. Expect a huge game from Forte, mostly in the passing game.
Josh Gordon vs. the Jets
Josh Gordon is the number one ranked wide receiver in terms of PPR points per game over Calvin Johnson now at 23.4 points per game. Antonio Cromartie has been beaten by the better recievers he has faced this season, and Josh Gordon is just as good, if not better than anyone he has faced. Look for Gordon to continue his breakout season and extend his lead in the receiving yardage category.
Alshon Jeffery vs. the Eagles
Antonio Brown has been one of the most consistent players on StarStreet this season, but in a Pick 5, it is all about who has the better game this week. Alshon Jeffery is nearly unstoppable at the moment, and the Eagles have nobody to cover him. They can not double team him either, because Brandon Marshall is on the other side. Jeffery will have a huge game against the Eagles, and is my pick for one of the top players of the week.
Don’t forget, Pick 5 can be played on our site as well.
