Yes, Jaguars punter Bryan Anger is again ranked first in our weekly punter rankings. Yes, Broncos punter Britton Colquitt is ranked last, for while he's one of the NFL's better punters, he's also utilized less than any punter in the league (15 punts total through four games). And yes, it's because Colquitt's Broncos are 28-point favorites against the Jaguars. But while the 28-punter gap between them is as large as could be in a week with only two teams on bye, the reality is that this game is more likely to surprise than to go as expected.
Last week, Colquitt's Broncos gave up 48 points to the Dallas Cowboys, a good but not exactly fearsome offense. Perhaps they'll tighten up a bit this week, but it's just as likely that the Jaguars will see some clues in the game film that demonstrate how to effectively attack the Broncos' D. In other words, Anger might not have the monster fantasy day one would normally anticipate in these circumstances, even though he's getting to kick in Denver's thin air. Meanwhile, it's hard to imagine Broncos coach John Fox keeping Peyton Manning and his trio of elite receivers on the field if the score differential starts to approach the point spread. And if that happens, it's quite possible that Colquitt will see more opportunities than expected. Anger's first and Colquitt's 30th, but the difference isn't as great as that might suggest.
