Punter Rankings – Week 16

kevin-huber-neckbraceIt’s championship week in most fantasy football leagues, and it’s a good bet that the combination of playoff implications (14 games matter on same level) and the weather are going to wreak a fair amount of havoc. Some teams are already contemplating resting starters to ensure their health for the playoffs, while other teams are jockeying for position (or one of the remaining undetermined playoff spots). And while we’re going to experience exceptionally warm temperatures on the East Coast, ice, snow, rain, thunder, lightning and wind will likely play a big role in the outcomes of more than half of today’s games.

If you’re looking for safe games, Jaguars-Titans is probably the best bet, followed closely by Raiders-Chargers. In both games, the punters are excellent and the weather conditions will be favorable. In a situation where you’re debating between a few options, go with the punter who will be dealing with the best weather conditions.

We had one team make a punter change this week. Following the injury suffered by Bengals punter Kevin Huber last week, Cincinnati has brought in early-season fantasy stud (for the Bills) Shawn Powell as his Week 16 replacement. Powell’s directional kicking leaves a lot to be desired, but his strong leg often makes for terrific fantasy numbers. Look for him to be a surprisingly strong option for Week 16, likely available on the waiver wire in most leagues.

And here are this week’s rankings:
