- The Philadelphia Daily News reported Eagles QB Carson Wentz looks stronger and is showing better mechanics during OTAs.
- Wentz earned a 74.8 adjusted completion percentage (13th among quarterbacks) as a rookie, starting strongly with seven TDs to just one pick in his first five games.
- From Week 7 onward, the signal-caller had a 9:13 TD-interception ratio, only averaging 5.8 yards per attempt and earning a 72.0 passer rating.
- Despite these differences, Wentz’s adjusted completion percentage did not decline nearly as much (76.9 percent in first five games, 74.0 in final 11 contests).
- The Eagles’ lack of receiving weapons could have played a hand in their quarterback’s late-season struggles. Wentz was most efficient when targeting Jordan Matthews, earning a 97.8 passer rating when throwing in his direction. That ranked only 38th among wide receivers last season.
- Philadelphia’s coaching staff believe Wentz’s improved mechanics and new weapons (Alshon Jeffery, Torrey Smith) will lead to a big sophomore leap.
