Washington need to improve its run defense in 2017

  • Washington ranked 21st of 32 teams in run-defense grade in 2016, allowing 1,916 total yards (ninth-most) and 4.5 yards per attempt (sixth-most).
  • Losing Chris Baker, by far the line’s best performer (82.2 overall grade), was an additional blow.
  • The Redskins have since made moves to fill the holes, but question marks still hover over recent signings Stacy McGee and Terrell McClain, and the re-signed Ziggy Hood.
  • The team is particularly dependent on McGee (80.5 overall grade) continuing his development.
