Which team is the best team in the NFC?

With the Packers and Seahawks struggling of late, the ability to pick the best team in the NFC is becoming more difficult. PFF analysts discuss some of the best contenders, including the Panthers and Cardinals.

Panthers are the best team because Bill Parcells had to be right when he said “You are what your record says you are”.

  • Sam Schell-Olsen

Arizona man, they are just killing it

  • Backinmd

I say Arizona ..remember when they were average years ago but upset the dominate teams almost week after week ..Used to call them the Cardiac Cardinals years ago when in St.Louis ….

    • crosseyedlemon

Who could forget Conrad Dobler? lol.

      • Backinmd

yeah, I remember him and that good announcer who retired (CBS) who played along side of him ….Can’t think of his name but he’s in the NFL HOF.. and was on TV announcing games for decades ..Opps – just hit me :;Dan Dierdorf …Larry Wilson had to be one of toughest Safety to ever play ..

        • crosseyedlemon

Dan Dierdorf does the game commentating for his alma mater Michigan now. The Cardiac Cards had a good run in the mid 70s under Don Coryell and they had a pretty exciting rusher in Terry Metcalf on that team.

Terrry metcalf was good, and so was his son later for the Browns ..Terry played a couple of years for the Skins.. In his prime never thought Terry got the publicity he deserved …Good all around back , kick & punt returner ….Remember Coryell with Cardinals and later the Chargers ..Wide open football at it’s best ..Chargers reminded me of the old AFL at it’s best ..Wide open football at it’s best ..Late Al Davis didn’t want to merge with the NFL years ago …BTW, Al Davis was the head coach for years behind the scenes ….

Everyone is waiting for the Vikings to hit that losing streak but if they can beat GB this week it will be time for everyone to take them seriously.

    • Bill Doerr

I can promise you the Vikings will have a 1 game losing streak atleast when it comes time for Judgment to fall upon the Vikings & play Arizona.

  • JT

The Hawks are 4-5…. they would need to win out at this point really to even make the playoffs…

Easily the Cardinals. Carolina comes in a #2 to me for two reasons and that is they have had the easiest adjusted strength of schedule in the NFL as every team they faced is a losing tram that is one of the worst in the teams respective division. Even with the super easy schedule the Panthers do not rank in the top 5 in any statistical category offensive or defensively. Lastly both have excellent defenses ( Though AZ has an Elite defense that is better n deeper with elite talent n rankings prove that) but Arizona’s offense is an Elite Offense with FAR, FAR more talent compared to Carolina’s. The offense of the teams is where it becomes clear Arizona is the vastly superior team.
Defensively the AZ Cardinals rank 3rd overall ( Panthers rank 10th ), Arizona ranks 6th in Passing Defense w/ the best secondary in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus ( Panthers 11th ) . Arizona has an Elite run defense ranking 4th allowing just 91YDs per game ( The Panthers just AVG ranking 14th). You look at the offense of the two teams and the Arizona Cardinals have a straight up Elite Offense ranking #1st Overall as the best in the NFL ( Panthers offense ranks 17th) & the Cardinals have the #1 ranked scoring offense have scored 303 points/33.8 Offensive-Points per game ( Panthers rank 5th with 255), The Arizona Cardinals Passing Offense ranks as the 4th Best passing offense in the NFL, Arizona’s 43 passes of 20-40 Yards in the air are the 2nd most in the NFL & they have Eight (8) 40+ Yard Passes which is the 3rd most in the NFL. The Panthers Passing Offense ranks 28th overall, their 30 Passes of 20+ YDs rank 19th & their 5 passes of 40+ Yards rank #2. The Arizona Cardinals with the #2 Rusher in the NFL with two excellent young RBs behind CJ2K in Andre Ellington whos a beast & Rookie 6″2/225 pound Elite RB in the making RB David Johnson ( Dude is a clone of Matt Forte) rank 8th overall whereas the Panthers having a running QB rank 4th.
As the Stats Clearly show Arizona is the better team & I was surprised the Panthers ranked as low as they did not really in the top 5 of anything often considering they have the easiest strength of schedule in the NFL and are playing losing teams & to top it off in over half games they are barely hanging on by the skin of their teeth for the win.
Both teams have good defenses although AZs is better ranking in the top 3 in everything pretty much or just flatout ranking 1st , AZ was ranked by PFF as the #1 Secondary in the NFL, AZ has a top 5 ranked Defensive Line, what really seperates the two though is the offenses , I mean AZ just has 3X times the talent offensively Carolina has and is better at every position. If they meet in the playoffs , with Palmer under Center , AZ would smash out Carolina.

in short you are an idiot a team like Arizona wouldn’t lose to a Steelers team playing a 3rd string QB or a Rams teams that just got blown out by the Bears at home. Panther offense has scored the 3rd most points in the league…how is that not ranking in the top 5?

    • JT

Saying Arizona is better at every position is even worse ignorance….the Panthers have miles and miles of worth of better LBs than the Cards do while Charles Johnson has been injured for several weeks I would take the Panthers Dline 10 out of 10 when healthy over the Cardinals. The offensive talent doesn’t matter when you have a QB who overcomes it every single week and Funchess has been getting better as time goes on while the Panthers offense is different isn’t any less better than the Cardinals considering they RUN THE BALL the Panthers have near last in pass attempts that is why they ranked low. You obviously don’t understand the difference between a running team and a passing team.

    • Josh Knepshield

JT’s second reply pretty much destroyed your entire 5 paragraph long post. LMAO.

    • Parker Emerson

But what actually HAPPENED in the playoffs? It was an utter blowout. Arizona is not even close to as good of a team as the Panthers. They are maybe 4-6 in the NFC entering this season. Lmao while reading through your comment again. Arizona was better at EVERY position. Wow.
