Texans Whitney Mercilus has improved pass-rushing moves

  • The Texans believe that OLB Whitney Mercilus has improved on his pass rush moves as his career has progressed, especially with the absence of JJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney throughout the past couple seasons, reports Aaron Wilson of Chron.com.
  • Mercilus has shown rare durability, missing only two games since 2012, for an injury riddled defense and has led the Houston Texans outside linebackers in total pressures every year since 2013. He ranked seventh among all 3-4 outside linebackers with 64 total pressures in 2016.
  • His production has increased across the stat sheet throughout his career, his number of defensive stops has increased every year since entering the league in 2012 culminating in 39 stops in 2016, including the playoffs.
