- With the loss of CB Stephon Gilmore to the Patriots in the offseason, Ronald Darby will now be the No. 1 cornerback for the Buffalo Bills. With the bump up the depth chart Darby, will have a lot more chances to make plays on the ball, a fact Darby has been stressing this week during OTAs, saying “I’ve just got to work on my hands, and that’s something I’ve been stressing.”
- Darby suffered from a sophomore slump last year, grading as the 66th-best CB with a PFF overall grade of 70.6. With seven pass breakups in 2016 Darby, ranked 28th out of 117 qualifying CBs but struggled to get interceptions, recording zero and dropping three potential INTs.
- Those numbers all pale in comparison to his 2015 rookie season, when Darby graded as the eighth–best CB in the NFL — his overall PFF grade of 86.3 was the fifth-highest grade by a rookie CB in the PFF era.
- In that season Darby manged 13 pass breakups, which ranked fifth out of 114 qualifying CBs and caught two interceptions. QBs had a passer rating of just 78.3 when throwing the ball into Darby’s coverage, which ranked 21st out of 118 qualifying CBs.
