  • Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon has been getting first-team reps in the team's OTAs, and has added 11 pounds of muscle this offseason, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Former teammate Adrian Peterson has been working out with McKinnon at Peterson's gym in Houston.
  • With Peterson signing in New Orleans and Matt Asiata joining the Lions, McKinnon is currently the most tenured Vikings running back. He faces strong competition for playing time though, with free agent RB Latavius Murray and second-round draft pick Florida State RB Dalvin Cook new to the roster.
  • McKinnon was drafted by the Vikings in 2014, and with Peterson suspended most of the season he showed some promise. McKinnon gained 2.62 yards after contact per attempt that year, ranking him ninth among all backs with at least 100 touches.
  • McKinnon's effectiveness has declined annually — his yards after contact average dropped to 2.35 in 2015, and 2.04 in 2016. His overall PFF grade has also decreased each season, going from a high of 70.1 his rookie year when he was ranked 26th, to 66.1 in 2016 ranking him 46th.VikingsJerickMcKinnon
