  • After a concussion cost Carolina Panthers offensive lineman Michael Oher the final 13 games of last season, Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reports that Oher’s concussion might not be the only reason for his absence at OTAs, as he is dealing with “personal matters” and is reportedly out of shape.
  • Oher looks set to take on a backup role in 2017 after the Panthers signed LT Matt Kalil and drafted Western Michigan’s OT Taylor Moton in the second round. Third-year tackle Daryl Williams also remains in the mix.
  • Oher’s injury caused him to log a career-low 232 snaps in 2016, and his 92.6 pass-blocking efficiency through the first three weeks tied him for 46th out of 56 qualified offensive tackles.
  • The former first-round pick’s career got off to a great start in 2009 when his 84.4 grade ranked 13th among tackles. However, Oher has not been able to surpass his rookie performance in the years following.
