NYG WR Sterling Shepard wants to improve after the catch

  • According to the Newark Star-Ledger, New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard said that he wants to improve with the ball in his hands.
  • In 2016, Shepard had an impressive rookie season grading 58th out of 115 eligible wide receivers with an overall grade of 73.4. He also lead all Giants receivers in snaps played at 1021 (including playoffs).
  • Shepard forced eight missed tackles after the catch on 65 receptions, ranking 25th in the NFL. His 4.0 yards after the catch per reception ranked just 62nd. Shepard averaged 10.8 yards after catch on screen passes.
  • Shepard who primarily played in the slot as a rookie (83 perecent of snaps), lead the league in touchdowns from the slot at eight. He also had the 7th most receiving yards from the position.
