The competition between rookies Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis should heat up this offseason.

No clear starter at right cornerback in Dallas

  • The Cowboys addressed their need for bodies in the secondary by drafting CB’s Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis in the second and third rounds of the NFL draft, respectively.
  • However, both project better as inside, rather than outside, cornerbacks.
  • Each will be given the opportunity to win the outside job, but the one who misses out may be stuck behind Orlando Scandrick for at least the 2017 season.
  • The Cowboys have added talented pieces to their secondary, but time will tell if they have the guy that will man the outside for years to come.
  • Lewis lacks ideal height to play outside and Awuzie was more productive in the slot than outside during his last season at Colorado.

Cowboys CBs

I don’t know what this writer is taking about, the Cowboys have plenty of options at CB. Nolan Carroll, Anthony Brown, Orlando Scandrick, Chidobe Awuzie all can play outside. Even Marquez White has the size and speed to start outside. More than likely it will be Anthony Brown at one spot, and Chidobe Awuzie at the other, with Orlando Scandrick in the slot. With Nolan Carroll and Jordan Lewis in the dime packages, and White in some cases depending on the situation, at FS Byron Jones, and SS Robert Blanton will battle Devon Frazier. However by mid-season rookie SS Xavier Woods will have turn some heads and taken over the starting SS position. While the lineup may be different from my projection, there is no doubt that the Cowboys added talent to their secondary and training camp should sort out the pecking order.
