- Entering the last season of a five year deal, the Detroit Free Press has reported safety Glover Quin has discussed a contract extension with the Lions. Quin also mentioned he'd like to have his extension done by the start of the 2017 season.
- Talking with the Free Press at minicamp, Quin at 31 feels as a safety he's entering his prime as he's “sort of seeing the game like a quarterback now” and believes he has three or four more years of playing at a high level. In 2016, Quin ranked 25th in the NFL among safeties allowing only one reception per every 25.4 snaps he played in coverage.
- Quin's three best seasons in terms of PFF grades have occurred during his tenure with the Lions. His best grade to this point of 84.2 in 2014 ranked 12th among qualifying safeties, and Quin's 2016 grade of 82.1 checked in at 23rd at the position.
