Jets sign UDFA quarterback Dane Evans of Tulsa

  • Former Tulsa quarterback Dane Evans recorded a 68.8 adjusted completion percentage in 2016, much higher than his 59.5 completion percentage. Evans’ receivers let him down last season by dropping 31 passes, second-most by any receiving corps playing with a draft-eligible quarterback.
  • Evans wasn’t forced to handle pressure very often. He was pressured on 17.6 percent of his drop backs, the second-lowest rate in the class. However, when he was pressured, he was sacked far too often, posting a 28.9 percent sack rate, the fourth-highest mark in the class.
  • When Evans was able to get the ball out of his hands under pressure, though, he was productive, completing 24 of 57 such attempts for 416 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. Evans was one of just four draft-eligible QBs to record at least 50 drop-backs under pressure and not throw an interception and his 95.4 QB rating while under pressure ranked sixth-best in the class.
  • What Evans is known for most is his strong arm. Tulsa looked to take advantage of that; in 2016, his average depth of target was 11.4 yards, good for the sixth-highest mark in the nation.
