- The Jacksonville Jaguars have brought in free agent safety Aaron Williams for a visit as they look to add veteran depth to their defensive backfield.
- The Jaguars have very little experience in their safety group behind starters Tashaun Gipson and Barry Church (signed to replace the departing Johnathan Cyprien).
- The most experienced of the group is Tracy Howard, who played 280 snaps last season for the Browns as a rookie undrafted free agent, earning a PFF grade of 53.3
- Williams has been a solid NFL player to date, earning above-average PFF grades the last four years despite sustaining serious neck injuries the past two seasons.
- Despite these injuries, Williams has played fairly well when he has been on the field, especially against the run where he posted a grade of 77.5 in 2016.
- Williams’ best season pre-injury came back in 2013, when he played over 90 percent of the snaps for the Bills and ranked second in passes defended among all NFL safeties.
