Former Hokie QB Jerod Evans hoping to stick with Philadelphia

  • A one-year starter at Virginia Tech, Evans has good size (6-foot-3 and 232 pounds) but is very raw as a prospect. A number of scouts believed he would have been best served returning to school to improve his game.
  • Evans possesses intriguing tools to work with as his 52.0 adjusted completion percentage on deep passes ranked him sixth among draft-eligible quarterbacks.
  • During his final year in college, the signal-caller attempted 75 deep passes, completing 34 of them for 1043 yards and eight touchdowns.
  • Despite the Eagles and their coaching staff’s history of running a West Coast offense, the team is looking to stretch the field more in the future. This could give Evans an opportunity to compete for a roster spot as a long-term quarterback project.
  • At the moment, his primary competition will come from recent free agent signee Matt McGloin. The former Oakland Raider has played only 104 snaps during the last three seasons.

Jerod Evans accuracy on immediate passes leaves a lot to be desired. He definitely should of returned to school.
