- Dianna Marie Russini of ESPN reports that the Atlanta Falcons are confident a long-term extension with running back Devonta Freeman is possible by training camp. Freeman emerged as the Falcons lead back in 2015 and has played 1498 offensive snaps since.
- Freeman had a break out campaign in 2015 earning the 17th highest grade for a running back at 75.2. He followed that up in 2016 by cracking the top-10 among running backs with a 77.2 overall grade.
- In 2016 Freeman ranked fourth in breakaway percentage (percentage of yards from runs of 15 or more yards) at 37.5 percent. His 16 total runs of 15 or more yards also ranked fourth.
