While Philadelphia’s starting offensive tackles are set in stone, training camp will feature key battles along the interior of the offensive line. Brandon Brooks will likely start at right guard, but the center and left guard positions are wide open. A number of players are competing for reserve spots as well.
- Jason Kelce has been the Eagles’ starting center since 2011, but his play has declined after his 2013 PFF All-Pro season (he was our 27th ranked center in 2016). The veteran’s future with the team remains uncertain.
- Allen Barbre started 12 games at left guard last season, he earned an 80.8 overall grade (23rd at his position) and allowed 14 QB pressures.
- Barbre’s main competition will come from 2016 third round pick Isaac Seumalo. The versatile former Oregon State Beaver started games at three different positions last year, earning a 69.5 pass blocking grade and a 73.4 run blocking grade. The Eagles see Seumalo’s future at either guard or center, but he will need some positional stability to succeed.
- The Eagles signed former Tennessee Titan Chance Warmack and re-signed Stefen Wisniewski this offseason, creating a logjam along the interior. The team’s coaching staff is stressing competition this summer.
- Wisniewski (75.2 grade) will compete at center and guard. The veteran allowed only one sack in 364 pass block snaps in 2016 and his 97.0 Pass Blocking Efficiency ranking placed him 16th among guards.
- Warmack landed on IR with a hand injury last September, but graded poorly in the two games he started (48.2). Philadelphia will hope that the former first round pick will play to his potential and earn a roster spot.
