- Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is all but certain to receive a massive payday with his next deal, told the Houston Chronicle, “I love being [in Houston]. I love playing for this team, great organization.”
- It may be awhile until Hopkins signs on the dotted line, but locking up the talented wide receiver long-term is a priority for the Texans, according to the Chronicle. Hopkins was PFF’s fourth-highest graded receiver in 2015 with a 90.6 overall grade, and has produced a grade of 80.0 or higher in each of the past three seasons despite up-and-down quarterback play.
- Few players have been as effective as Hopkins at converting deep targets into points. Hopkins has found his way into the endzone on 15.1 percent of targets traveling 20 yards or more in the air since 2014, trailing only Brandin Cooks and Dez Bryant among wideouts with at least 60 deep targets over that span.
