  • With the departure of WR Alshon Jeffery (7.7 targets per game last year) and Kevin White failing to live up to expectations after two seasons, there will be competition this season for the number one receiver spot in Chicago.
  • Bears WR Cameron Meredith heads into the 2017 season after a productive 2016. Among receivers with at least 90 targets, Meredith ranked ninth in the league last year in yards per route run (2.09).
  • 2016 Bears QBs Jay Cutler, Brian Hoyer, and Matt Barkley finished with passer ratings of 78.1, 98.0, and 68.3 on the year. When targeting Meredith, “Bears QB” had a passer rating of 100.1.
  • Meredith established himself as a very capable deep threat last season. On deep passes (passes traveling 20-plus yards), he caught 7 of 10 targets and scored 4 touchdowns.
