VOP Tom Coughlin is certainly crossing all his T’s and doting all his I’s, after signing DT/DE Calais Campbell, SS Barry Church, CB A.J. Bouye to shore up the defensive side of the ball. Coughlin also drafted LB Blair Brown, DE Daewone Smoot, CB/NB Jalen Myrick, who all have the ability, and skillset to contribute this year. Coughlin signed Smoots college teammate DE Carroll Phillips who has enough twitch and speed to make an impact coming off the edge as a third-down specialist. Despite having slot CB Aaron Colvin, the Jags also bought CB Alterraun Verner. While the days of his production from Tennessee Titans are behind him, coming in as a 3rd or 4th CB Verner could really be an asset to the defense. With newly signed A.J. Bouye, and rookie pro-bowler CB Jalen Ramsey. With the addition of SS Barry Church and FS Tashaun Gipson getting back to the form that made him attractive free agent while being one of the few bright spots on a bad Cleveland Browns defense. HC Doug Marrone and the Jaguar’s should have an excellent defense. Easliy top 5
