5 things you need to know for Thursday

Good morning football fans! Here are the five things you need to know coming out of Wednesday to get your morning started right:

  1. PFF Senior Analyst Mike Renner dives into another sequence of Teaching Tape to look at Aaron Rodgers’ otherworldly ability on the scramble drill. Rodgers breaks the pocket more than most quarterbacks, and when he does so is lethal on a level no other passer comes close to. Rodgers led the league by a distance in 2016 in attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns on passes on the run while scrambling
  2. The Seattle Seahawks are hosting QB Colin Kaepernick for a workout, with a view to potentially signing him to back up starter Russell Wilson. There has been much discussion about Kaepernick being blackballed from the NFL for his political views and attitudes, but one team at least is prepared to kick the tires on him as a backup option.
  3. The Buffalo Bills have cut offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio. Kouandjio was a former second-round pick with a lot of potential, but injuries have been a constant issue for him in the NFL, and he has been limited to just 640 total snaps as a pro. Last season saw him play in ten games, starting five, where he allowed just one sack and twelve additional hurries.
  4. Patrick Robinson has the inside track to start outside for the Eagles at cornerback, opposite second-year player Jalen Mills. Robinson was only signed on a one-year contract, but he has extensive starting experience and has been getting the first team reps outside so far for the Eagles.
  5. There are eight teams around the league with an entirely new situation at offensive coordinator, and that means new fantasy situations to figure out for those offenses. PFF Fantasy’s Tyler Buecher runs through each team’s new situation to highlight the fantasy winners on each roster.
