  • San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde received the first-team snaps at running back to begin all of the team’s offseason practices so far, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.
  • Some have speculated that Hyde’s position atop the depth chart could be in jeopardy after the 49ers added a number of running backs to the roster this offseason, signing Tim Hightower, trading for Kapri Bibbs and selecting Joe Williams in the fourth round of the draft. For now, it appears Hyde will receive the first opportunity to secure the starting job.
  • When healthy, Hyde has been one of the NFL’s best running backs at generating yards after contact since entering the league in 2014, a skill that’s come in handy playing behind an offensive line that ranked 31st in PFF’s run blocking grades last season.
  • Hyde has averaged 2.94 yards after contact per attempt over his career, the fourth-highest figure among running backs with at least 250 carries during that span.
