We’re now at the point of the season where bye weeks are kicking in, which adds an extra dimension to waiver wire scouting. This is especially true if you’re a more experienced IDP gamer and choose to run with less IDP depth on your roster or have shorter benches — let alone any injuries issues.
Below I’ll highlight some of the most likely candidates you can grab to keep your rosters ticking over, or to replace some under-performers.
Defensive Lineman
I nominated Stephon Tuitt as a pickup in last week’s column, and hopefully some of you took notice and plugged him in, as he racked up ten total tackles (two for loss) and a sack. That’s now 22 total tackles for the year, and 3.5 sacks in his last three games. He’s going to be a DL2/3 most weeks with his high tackle floor, and is worth rostering as a depth option at the very least.
Another player I have mentioned before this year is Michael Bennett, who gave a novel reason as to why he wanted to sack Matt Stafford on Monday Night Football. Unfortunately for him, Bennett did not register a sack in the game, but did generate two hits and three hurries, taking his season total to two sacks, three hits and 13 hurries. Our signature statistic looking at pass rush productivity rates Bennett as the second-most effective pass rusher so far this year, and his 15 total tackles to date suggest he is on pace for a career-best tackle total this season as well.
