PFF Week: Out West, Week 14

PFF-Week-Out-WestIt’s your last chance to get caught up on the happenings at PFF before the next slate of games is upon us, and our new ‘PFF Week’ posts provide quick access to the week that was. The ‘Out West’ edition covers all things pertaining to the AFC and NFC West divisions for a one-stop Saturday shop built to keep you in the loop and on top of your football-watching game.

One of the best parts of being out West is that you literally wake up, eat breakfast and catch some NFL action and then have some time to enjoy the rest of the day. Our West Coast PFF agents get extra time to break down their game film and process the information into the vast database on hand. Fans of the AFC and NFC West divisions have generally enjoyed a high level of football for 2013 with the AFC West being 21-13 vs. non-division foes. The NFC West is just a little bit ahead of that mark at 24-10 so far this season and there is still more football ahead to see who comes out with the best record.

Week 13 Wrap

The featured matchup of the week was Denver taking on a depleted but still formidable Kansas City team on the road. The Chargers hosted the Bengals who were coming off their bye week and came up short at the end. Oakland was dealing with their third game in 11 days but they were tougher than many expected against Dallas despite fielding an undrafted rookie quarterback. In the NFC West, the 49ers kept to the basics against the Rams with a stifling defense and their offense getting spark with the return of a key wide receiver. The Cardinals took a trip out to Philadelphia to see if the Eagles were really as good as many said. The Seahawks made a statement against the Saints at home in more ways than one on Monday Night Football setting up a key game for this week. More in depth information on these games are included with the ReFocused articles which are right here for your convenience.

Oakland at Dallas  | Denver at Kansas City | Cincinnati at San Diego

This all leads to the PFF Power Rankings where you can see just where your favorite team stacks up in relation to the rest of the league.

Looking Ahead to Week 14

Due to an interesting schedule quirk each team in the AFC West faces a non-division team while the NFC West squares off in divisional matchups. Will there be any letdown from the Seahawks as they hit the road to take on the 49ers? Will Carson Palmer (elbow) be healthy enough for the battle against the Rams who are down their starting center? Temperatures will add an extra dimension to the game as the Broncos host the Titans. The Chiefs look to get back in the win column with a trip out to Washington. The Chargers get to stay home however and host the Giants who are having issues of their own this season. Finally, the Raiders head out to the East Coast as well to try and put a bit more salt in the wound of the Jets with their growing pains at quarterback. A more detailed review of this week’s slate of games is featured with the 3TFO articles below.
