PFF Preview: Packers @ Buccaneers, Week 16

2014-Prev-WK16-GB@TBComing off a tough loss in Buffalo last week, the 10-4 Green Bay Packers will look to rebound when they travel south to face off against the 2-12 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Despite last week’s grade anomaly, Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers is having an MVP-caliber season. He leads all quarterbacks with a +35.5 overall grade, 8.38 Yards per Attempt, and a 98.3 PFF QB Rating. The veteran has also thrown only five interceptions in 513 drop-backs, which is the lowest mark of any signal-caller with at least 250 snaps.

Tampa Bay’s secondary will have the daunting task of trying to slow down Rodgers’ offensive machine this week. Cornerback Johnthan Banks has accumulated four interceptions in 2014 while opposing quarterbacks have only earned a 74.7 rating when throwing into his coverage. However, the only other player in Tampa Bay’s secondary that has earned a positive coverage grade is Alterraun Verner. The first-year Buccaneer has seven passes defensed this season and has earned a +3.5 coverage grade over his past four contests.

Here are three more notable numbers for each side:

Green Bay Packers

Josh Sitton – The veteran guard has not allowed a sack in 2014 while his 98.8 Pass Blocking Efficiency has him in a tie for first at his position.

Mike Daniels – Daniels is having a strong all-around season for Green Bay. His 23 stops against the run place him sixth among 3-4 defensive ends. His 9.3 Pass Rush Productivity ranks him third.

Eddie Lacy – Lacy has forced 59 missed tackles this season which ranks him fourth among running backs. Only Le’Veon Bell has forced more missed tackles as a receiver than Lacy.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mike Evans – The rookie has a 52.9 Catch Rate on balls thrown 20 yards or more and a position-leading seven touchdowns on Deep Passes.

Lavonte David – David’s 47 stops against the run ranks him No. 1 among 4-3 outside linebackers this season.

Demar Dotson – Dotson has earned a 96.7 Pass Blocking Efficiency grade in 2014 which is second-best among right tackles behind only Ricky Wagner.
