A comeback of epic proportions left the Tennessee Titans (1-4) devastated and extended their losing streak to four games. A visit from the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5) could lift the spirits in Nashville, granted they play like the team that showed up in the first half vs. the Browns and not the second half team. Chad Henne was benched in favor of rookie Blake Bortles, but Bortles has seen his struggles as well, grading at -10.0 in 165 snaps compared to Henne’s -6.1 in 146.
The Jaguars come into this Week 6 matchup showing an improved offensive line from a year ago and a big part of that comes from rookie RG Brandon Linder. Grading best in pass blocking (+4.5), Linder has the challenge of facing a well-respected defensive line consisting of Jurrell Casey, Sammie Lee Hill, and Ropati Pitoitua.
Last year, Casey graded as the fifth-best DT in the NFL with at +28.2 overall mark and most of his success rushing the passer. This year he started right where he left off but last week saw him get held in check by All-Pro left tackle Joe Thomas. Hill, the nose tackle, graded at +2.0 as pass rusher against the Browns' stout line, while Pitoitua grades at a +6.4 against the run on the year. Needless to say, Linder is going to have his hands full no matter who he is blocking.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Luke Joeckel – With a grade of -5.9 and a Pass Blocking Efficiency of 94.6, Joeckel has given up 14 total QB pressures, including one sack and five hits, coming on 200 snaps.
Blake Bortles – One area the rookie QB has excelled over his teammate Henne is in his Accuracy Percentage where Bortles has been on target with 75.3% of his throws. He is tied with Tony Romo for 15th in the NFL.
Paul Posluszny – Among qualifying ILBs, Posluszny ranks 16th in the NFL with a combined (run and pass plays) Tackling Efficiency score of 10.2 tackles per miss, and tied with Washington's Keenan Robinson for 13th with a Run Stop Percentage of 7.7.
Tennessee Titans
Jason McCourty – The veteran CB has struggled this year giving up 2.56 yards per cover snap, more than double the previous year (1.22 YPCS) and 2012 (1.27 YPCS).
Chance Warmack – The highly-touted guard from Alabama has not made the impact most thought he would when entering the NFL. His Pass Blocking Efficiency is almost identical from a year ago (95.3 in 2013, 95.2 in 2014) and his overall grade this year is -3.4 on 323 snaps.
Bishop Sankey and Shonn Greene – The Titans may have found themselves a solid HB in Sankey as he continues to show much better than his fellow back. Sankey posts a +2.3 grade and a 51.9 Elusive Rating, including 2.59 yards after contact per attempt. Greene grades at -1.7, has a 36.9 Elusive Rating, and 2.32 yards after contact per attempt.
