PFF Preview: Cardinals @ Cowboys, Week 9

2014-Prev-WK09-ARZ@DALThe Arizona Cardinals and their fearsome secondary will head into Dallas to take on the Cowboys and their duo of wide receivers Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams.

Cardinals defensive backs Antonio Cromartie, Jerraud Powers, and Tyrann Mathieu all currently have coverage grades over +2.0. Cromartie has a +5.9 grade, is coming off of a game with his first two interceptions of the year, and comes into this game as PFF’s sixth-ranked in pass coverage among CBs with 250 snaps or more. The Cowboys have a team pass grade of +21.7 which is good for fifth in the league. Bryant has caught all four of his catchable deep balls this year for 172 yards and a TD.

On the defensive side of the ball Cowboys ILB Rolando McClain is currently ranked as the fifth overall inside linebacker with a +7.1 mark and is rated second in pass coverage grade (+6.0). Carson Palmer was the fourth-rated QB overall in Week 8 while throwing no interceptions and taking no sacks. He was sixth in PFF QB Rating with a 91.57, and was the second-best deep ball thrower in Week 8 going 3-for-8 with 130 yards and the game-winning touchdown.

Arizona Cardinals

Andre Ellington – Ranked seventh in Breakaway Percentage among RBs with 100 attempts and has 7 runs of 15 yards or more.

Calais Campbell – Despite missing a couple of games due to injury, Campbell is eighth among 3-4 DEs with 180 snaps in Pass Rushing Productivity creating 18 total pressures on the year.

Larry Fitzgerald – Was third among wide receivers in Week 8 in WR Rating catching seven of 10 balls for 160 yards and a TD, good for a 145.8 rating.

Dallas Cowboys

Jeremy Parnell – In 150 snaps starting at right tackle in relief of the injured Doug Free, he has a +4.6 overall grade and has graded out over +2.0 in pass and run blocking.

Cole Beasley – Beasley ranks third in wide receiver Slot Performance. He’s caught 13 of 17 targets in the slot for 114 yards and a catch rate of 76.5.

Henry Melton – The top-ranked defensive tackle with 130 or more pass rush snaps in terms of Pass Rush Productivity, garnering 19 pressures with four of them being sacks.
