PFF Preview: Buccaneers @ Lions, Week 14

2014-Prev-WK14-TB@DETGerald McCoy and the Bucs are coming off of a tough loss to take on the Detroit Lions and the recently-hot Matthew Stafford.

McCoy is only behind rookie Aaron Donald in terms of overall PFF grades for DTs. He’s graded in the green against the run and the pass on the year and leads all DTs in pass rush grade with an outstanding +33.8 mark. He has generated 41 pressures, nine of which are sacks and comes in second to Buffalo’s Kyle Williams in Pass Rush Productivity from the DT position.

After seven straight weeks without a positive overall grade, Stafford got himself going against a struggling Bears defense on Thanksgiving. He posted his second-highest passing grade of the year (+4.7) and lead all quarterbacks in Week 13 in Accuracy Percentage with an 85.7%. Stafford was also tied for third last week in Accuracy Percentage when Under Pressure.

Here are three more notable numbers for each side:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mike Evans – Ranks 10th in WR Rating among all WRs with at least 75 targets, and also comes in 10th in Yards Per Route Run among all WRs and leads all rookie WRs with 65 targets.

Demar Dotson – He’s the only Tampa Bay offensive lineman to grade in the green and comes in ninth in Pass Blocking Efficiency.

Alterraun Verner – Interestingly, Verner leads all corners by far with his grade against the run, +7.2, and is also the leader in Run Stop Percentage among CBs.

Detroit Lions

Rashean Mathis – The vet has held up well, coming in 10th in Cover Snaps per Reception (13) and a 78.7 passer rating when targeted.

Glover Quin – Overall he is the 10th-highest-graded safety while having green grades both against the run and the pass. He also ranks 10th among safeties in Tackling Efficiency.

Theo Riddick – Despite playing under 21% of snaps, his overall grade is good for 10th and his receiving grade, +6.3, comes in third among all backs.
