PFF Preview: Browns @ Titans, Week 5

2014-Prev-WK05-CLE@TENThe (1-2) Cleveland Browns come off of their bye week to play the struggling (1-3) Tennessee Titans in this Week 5 matchup. The Browns have been extremely competitive in all three games this season and their two losses have been by a combined five points. The Titans beat the Chiefs 26-10 in Week 1 but have been outscored 100-34 since.

A key matchup here will be between Andrew Hawkins and the Titans' Jason McCourty and Coty Sensabaugh. Hawkins is the Browns' most-targeted receiver and currently the second ranked wide receiver overall with a +5.5 grade. Hawkins is also ranked fourth in wide receiver Yards Per Route Run at 2.87. Jason McCourty’s current coverage grade sits at +1.7 and quarterbacks have a 65.4 rating when throwing his direction. When in the slot, Hawkins will see Coty Sensabaugh. Sensabaugh is coming off his worst coverage grade of the season at -0.9, but is still sitting at +1.3 for an overall grade.

Here are three players from each team to focus on:

Cleveland Browns

Paul Kruger – Kruger is showing well against both the run and pass, grading better than +2.0 in each area. His +4.5 overall grade ranks 11th out of all 3-4 outside linebackers.

John Greco – The veteran guard ranks fifth overall in our grading at the moment and his 100% Pass Blocking Efficiency rating puts him with Josh Sitton as the only guards to not allow a pressure this year.

Brian Hoyer – Hoyer is toward the middle of the pack ranking 17th in PFF Quarterback Rating at 88.47. His Accuracy Percentage of 45.5% on deep balls ranks him eighth in the league per our Deep Passing statistics.

Tennessee Titans

Michael Roos – Roos has a 96.1 Pass Block Efficiency rating which has him at 18th out of all tackles. Penalties have cost Roos 2.1 points on his overall grade, bringing him down to +2.9 for the season.

Bernard Pollard – Penalties have also hurt Bernard Pollard and have taken a chunk off of Pollard's overall grade bringing him to +1.6, but he is still one of only eight safeties to grade positively both against the run and pass.

Bishop Sankey – Even with only 66 snaps, Sankey has jumped into our Top 10 in running back grade at +2.9 overall. His +2.6 rush grade has him at seventh in that department.
