PFF Preview: Bengals @ Steelers, Week 17

2014-Prev-WK17-CIN@PITAdam Jones and the Cincinnati Bengals will go into Pittsburgh to take on Antonio Brown and the Steelers as both teams battle for the AFC North crown on Sunday Night Football.

“Pacman” Jones’s Cover Snaps per Reception (10.0) and Cover Snaps per Target (6.2) are average ranking in the 30’s among corners, however he is ninth ranked in terms of NFL Rating when targeted at 74.1. He has intercepted more balls than touchdowns he has given up (3 to 2) and has only surrendered 48 catches on 77 targets.

Jones is going to have a long day, as he will be taking on PFF’s highest-rated receiver in Antonio Brown. The margin is not even close as Brown’s +24.3 receiving grade is +4.9 higher than the next highest grade, which is his held by ex-teammate Emmanuel Sanders. Brown leagues the lead in both receptions (122) and receiving yards (1,570) while ranking fourth in WR Rating (122.5), seventh in Yards per Route Run (2.61), and has only dropped four balls all year.

Here are three more notable numbers for each side:

Cincinnati Bengals

AJ Green – In a season where he has been hampered by injuries Green has still managed to lead receivers in Yards per Route Run (3.04) which has him only 41 yards away from another 1,000-yard season.

Jeremy Hill – The rookie has forced 22 missed tackles since Week 9 and has the second-highest breakaway percentage in that same span. He’s gathered 10 runs of 15+ yards and accumulated 345 yards on those runs.

George Iloka – Eighth overall rated safety, No. 2 safety in coverage, and has only missed six tackles.

Pittsburgh Steelers

James Harrison – He had his best game of the year last week with a +6.4 overall grade and he ranks fourth in Pass Rushing Productivity among OLBs with at least 120 pass rush snaps since Week 4.

Cameron Heyward – The anchor for the Steelers’ defensive line has the most run stops at 3-4 end in the AFC North with 18 and leads the division in Pass Rushing Productivity from the same spot.

Kelvin Beachum – Has been a stalwart at LT playing all 1,075 snaps and has graded out green in 13 of 15 games this year. He ranks third in Pass Blocking Efficiency among tackles.
