PFF Pick’em: Week 1

new-pickem-featureAfter 2011’s Pick’em saw three of our analysts surpass the 170-win mark, Nathan Jahnke was the only to do so in 2012 as he took home the title with a 176-80 (68.8%) record. Nathan’s vault to the top was on the back of a 17-win improvement over his 2011 performance (PED-check?) and had him clear of Steve Palazzolo’s second-place effort by 13 games.

As a group, over the course of the season, the PFF-ers called 93 consensus picks and hit on 74 of them for a very respectable 79.6 win percentage — a number they’ll be looking to improve upon this year, while also taking Nathan down a peg.

To get things started, the staff selected five across-the-board winners for Week 1: New England, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Houston — here’s to a season-opening sweep in the consensus department.

  • Anony Mouse

You should do this vs the spread.

  • Chris B

Interesting factoid- over the past ten years, the homes teams have won an average of 145 games (out of 256) with each year being almost dead on 145 games. Only 3 years varied by more than 3 games in either direction (151, 136, 141). And even when bad teams won, it usually was at home. No one else may care, but I thought it was cool.

  • Injuriescount

For all those picking Bengals you do realize Whitworth likely wont play? Peppers v Collins = Andy Dalton duck.

  • Ike

If Peppers vs Dalton = duck, then I wonder what Atkins vs Cutler is equivalent to. Man it sacks to be Cutler.

Surprised Neil is picking the Seahawks. He had a pretty negative view of their starters for week 1 according to the updated depth chart grades.
