If you are reading this you are likely in your leagues Super Bowl. The other (less exciting) option is you’re trying to win this last week so you don’t finish in last place. This week I am doing it a little differently. All four matchups I am featuring are going to favor the receiver. These are guys that can win you your first place trophy, or keep you out of the cellar.
Mike Evans vs. Tramon Williams
What a rookie year Mike Evans has had. Evans will almost surely eclipse 1,000 yards on the season this Sunday, and already has 11 touchdowns. Nine of Evans 11 touchdowns have come over the last seven weeks. Not only has Evans been getting great overall production, he is also been efficient. Evans has dropped only four of 103 targets and has a YPT average of 9.2. Both of those numbers compete with the most elite receivers in the NFL.
Tramon Williams was one of the best cornerbacks in the league over the first quarter of the season. Through the first four games Williams didn’t allow a touchdown and was giving up just 26 yards per game. Over the next eight games Williams proceeded to allow seven touchdowns and 55 yards per game. Williams will have his hands full this week regardless if he matches up against Evans or Vincent Jackson.
Bottom Line: I imagine the Packers won’t have a problem scoring against the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers will likely be playing catch-up which means lots of targets for Evans. Don’t panic if he doesn’t go off early. He is a prime candidate to rack up points in garbage time.
