Week 7 Football Fun Facts

Lance Briggs-Last week I told those of you who may have picked up Chicago SLB James Anderson recently for bye week purposes, not to drop him. I hope you listened. Last week we found out that Bears MLB D.J. Williams was done for the season with a torn left pectoral muscle. It seemed as if Williams' injury would make Anderson more of an every down player going forward and it did. After sitting for a combined total of  22 plays in Weeks 5 and 6, Anderson played all 76 snaps in Week 7 against Washington.  He was credited with eight tackles (six solo) and a sack.

-Now comes news that Chicago WLB Lance Briggs will miss at least six weeks after going down with a shoulder injury late in the third quarter. This makes it almost impossible for Anderson to come off of the field. It also may impact rookie MLB Jon Bostic who took over at the MIKE after the Williams injury. Slated to primarily be a two down linebacker, Bostic played 66 of 76 snaps in Week 7 and was credited with eight tackles (six solo.) Whoever is on the field in Chicago will have opportunities for high tackle totals. After Briggs went down on Sunday, Washington scored touchdowns on three of their next four drives, running 27 plays and gaining 234 yards. Coupled with the injury to QB Jay Cutler, who will be sidelined for a minimum of four weeks due to a torn groin, Chicago linebackers may end up logging plenty of snaps on the field. The Bears head into a much needed bye week.
