Vikings Danielle Hunter to have starting role

  • The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that edge defender Danielle Hunter will move into a starting role with the team. In 2016, Hunter was used mostly as a pass rush specialist. Despite not earning a start he played in 603 total snaps (413 pass rush).
  • In 2016 Danielle Hunter continued the strong start to his career by earning an 80.6 overall grade and ranking as the 29th best edge defender out of 109 eligible. He was named to PFFs under-25 team.
  • Hunter carved out a role as a pass-rush specialist in 2016 and he was one of the most productive pass-rushers on third downs. His third down PRP of 15.2 ranked sixth among all edge defenders with at least 200 pass rush snaps. He earned 29 of his 55 pressures on third down and converted 34.5% of those into hits or sacks.
