Trade Wins - Examining Buyer's Remorse
First, a quick introduction: I wrote Trade Wins: The Final Untapped Advantage in Fantasy Football because, quite simply, I love making trades. I spend more time conjuring up the perfect offer than I do making start/sit decisions. When I was a kid I used to play sports video games just to draft and make trades. I cared little about actually playing the game. I’ve been known to waste hours on ESPN’s NBA Trade Machine and then email friends my favorite trade scenarios.
But we’re here to talk football and given that few trades actually occur in the NFL, my trading fix comes via fantasy football. And I think I’ve got it down to a science. Don’t take my advice on whether Vernon Davis will have a big year or not. There are plenty of more qualified writers on Pro Football Focus Fantasy to trust for that advice. But if you read this weekly column, I guarantee you’ll approach trades with newfound vigor, tact and ultimately, success.
Lets dive in.
If you’ve read my book, you already know that the draft is a critical time to begin your trade strategy for the season. But with the season under way, let’s focus on this unique period of time between your draft’s conclusion and roughly the third week of the NFL season. There’s real value to be had in this window and it all stems from the phenomenon called buyer’s remorse.
