This late into the season, fans generally expect quality matchups in primetime – something flex scheduling has helped with a great deal on Sundays, saving us from quite a few duds and replacing them with much better games. But due to the difficulty of swapping out a Thursday Night game, this just isn’t possible, which has left us with some less-than-desirable contests. Unfortunately, tonight’s game between AFC South rivals the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars is another such matchup.
Sitting at the bottom of the division with a combined 5-19 record and the two worst records in the league, there’s a chance this game could determine who has the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft. If Houston loses their 11th game in a row, they will all but lockup the No. 1 spot. On the flip side, Jacksonville losing is the only real way to keep them in the running, as a victory will give them four wins and effectively cut them out of the running. Obviously neither team is trying to purposefully lose in order to obtain the top pick, so here’s a look at a couple of key factors to tonight’s game.
