The end has finally come, but the beginning is near.
Week 4 has the season starters on limited snaps and guys trying to win jobs putting in a lot of minutes. Even on limited snaps the risk of injury is the same. We saw some potentially productive fantasy players go down with significant injuries. Luckily it is the last preseason game and we can set our lineups with confidence knowing who is in and who is out this coming week.
Another week shows us why injuries are the rule and durability is the exception to the rule in football. In the Training Table, I will be providing you with recent news and notes as it pertains to injuries all season here at PFF Fantasy.
Arizona Cardinals
Rashard Mendenhall — Running Back
Injury Date: August 25, 2013 — Knee Sprain
Fantasy Prognosis: Bruce Arian's made the statement that Mendenhall is “more than ready” for Week 1. He is listed as probable this week. He is a low RB2 or flex spot starter when the Cardinals play the Rams this week at St. Louis.
Robert Housler — Tight End
Injury Date: August 25, 2013 — Ankle Sprain
Fantasy Prognosis: Housler's injury is still being listed as a high ankle sprain. He did sit out of practice on Monday and that may indicate that he will not be ready for week 1. He is listed as questionable for the start of the season.
Atlanta Falcons
Roddy White — Wide Receiver
Injury Date: August 15, 2013 — Ankle Injury
Fantasy Prognosis: Roddy White is listed as probable for the Week 1 contest with the New Orleans Saints. I fully expect White to be ready to play as this game as both teams will need all weapons ready for what should be a high scoring affair for both teams.
Asante Samuel — Cornerback
Injury Date: August 26, 2013 — Thigh Injury
Fantasy Prognosis: Samuel suffered a thigh injury and is probable to start the regular season.
Stephen Nicholas — Linebacker
Injury Date: August 17, 2013 — Leg Injury
Fantasy Prognosis: The Falcon's were hit again by the injury bug when Stephen Nicholas went down with an apparent leg injury. There are not a lot of details about his injuries at this time. Nicholas is currently in line to start at Sam linebacker for the Falcons this season according to Ourlads.com. He is listed as questionable to start the season.
