The Snap Report – Week 14 Offense

The weekly offensive snap report is a summary of the participation data for fantasy relevant skill position players. Although the focus is snaps, we also cover other important categories like pass routes and designed runs.

Running Back

William Powell (35 snaps) made the best of a bad situation against Seattle. The Cardinals were humiliated to the tune of 58-0 and the game was essentially over in the second quarter. Neither John Skelton nor Ryan Lindley were effective at quarterback – which negated the need to use Beanie Wells (12) much at all. Powell saw most of his work on passing downs, running 23 pass routes, and caught two passes for 13 yards. Wells had one more carry than Powell did, but only totaled 18 yards rushing. Powell added five carries for 20 yards. This backfield should be avoided at all costs – especially now that Arizona is down to their third string center.

Michael Turner (19 snaps) is on the verge of slipping into fantasy obscurity if it were not for his goal line touchdowns. Turner finished with seven attempts for 14 yards and a touchdown – except the one-yard touchdown came as time expired in the fourth quarter with the game already decided. Otherwise, we are looking at a stat line of six attempts for 13 yards. That is it. Fortunately, for Atlanta, Jacquizz Rodgers (29) is coming on strong lately and has been useful in PPR leagues. Rodgers only ran the ball four times (for 21 yards) but caught six of his seven targets for 43 yards. Jason Snelling (15) is seeing time on passing downs also but Rodgers is the back to own going forward.

James Starks goes down (again) and it is time for Alex Green (32 snaps) to be the feature back (again). Green was serviceable against the Lions with 13 carries for 69 yards – though he only averaged 2.2 yards after contact per attempt and essentially got the yardage that was blocked for him. DuJuan Harris (7) got seven carries for 31 yards with only 1.1 yards after contact but did punch one in a touchdown from the red zone. Harris flashed and scored the touchdown, but Green is going to be the more consistent fantasy option down the stretch.

Montell Owens (48 snaps) is the latest Jaguars’ reserve running back to have a solid fantasy day in the absence of Maurice Jones-Drew. Owens carried the ball 14 times for 91 yards with a touchdown and added an 11-yard reception for good measure. If Rashad Jennings is held out again in Week 15, Owens makes an interesting start against the Dolphins.
