Start the Raiders DST in Week 4

Economist Daniel Kahneman coined the phrase “what you see is all there is” (WYSIATI), and it applies to the part of our brains that believe whatever it is we see in front of us. His studies never really carried over into fantasy football, but I think there are a lot of truths between WYSIATI and the way we pick which matchups we try to play and which defenses are “due” for a big game.

Last week, Philadelphia’s DST looked like it was being coached by Buddy Ryan, as they went in to MetLife Stadium and manhandled a Jets team that had an efficient offense up until that point. The Eagles had three interceptions, a fumble recovery, and threw in a Darren Sproles punt return touchdown for that little exclamation point in a dominant win.

We might tend to think the Eagles are a defense on the come (WYSIATI, right?), but the truth is their three interceptions make up a quarter of ALL the interceptions they had last season. I think the Eagles have a good defense, but they won't duplicate that performance this week, even against Kirk Cousins and the Redskins.
