Needless to say, Week 1 didn’t go exactly as we all planned. There were some surprising performances, disappointing players and critical injuries. In other words, the 2015 NFL opener was as unpredictable as ever.
Now that there’s a game’s worth of action in the books, we have at least a small sample size worth of data to help us make decisions on who our best fantasy options are for Week 2, and moving forward.
Leaving out the obvious early-round must-start players, here are some players that make intriguing starts for Week 2, and some potential starters that could be due for underwhelming numbers.
Start
Ryan Tannehill, QB, Dolphins (@ Jaguars) – It was a tough start for Tannehill and the Dolphins offense, as Miami squeaked out a win against an underrated Washington pass rush that generated 16 pressures last week. Jacksonville’s D-line, which was PFF's 21st-ranked unit after Week 1, is unlikely to generate similar pressure.
This will allow Tannehill more time to sit in the pocket and tear apart the Jaguars’ weak secondary. Miami’s deep group of pass catchers should find success, especially by attacking the middle of the field with tight end Jordan Cameron. It’s also worth noting that the Jags intercepted an NFL-low six passes last season. Expect Tannehill to reclaim some fantasy glory this week and finish as a top-five signal-caller.
