StarStreet Pick 5 for Week 6
One of my favorite games over at StarStreet is their Pick 5, which you can play for free each week to win a ticket to other daily games or for money.
The game is simple. There’s five player vs. player matchups, and you pick who you think will score more that week. The best part is that you can play straight from our site by clicking here.
Here’s this week’s Pick 5:
Tony Romo vs. Aaron Rodgers
Tom Brady vs. Robert Griffin III
Matt Forte vs. Adrian Peterson
Marshawn Lynch vs. Doug Martin
Randall Cobb vs. Victor Cruz
There’s some pretty tough choices here, but here’s my picks for Week 6:
Tony Romo vs. Washington
Picking against Aaron Rodgers is not the norm, but when a hot quarterback in Romo goes against a defense such as the Washington Redskins, it is impossible to choose the alternative. Tony Romo passed for over 500 yards and five touchdowns last week against the Broncos. The Redskins secondary does not feature near as much talent as the Broncos, and with Jim Haslett calling the plays (mostly blitzes, as Redskin fans would concur) Tony Romo is going to have a great day. The Redskins have allowed the third most fantasy points to quarterbacks, and Romo should do the same.
Tom Brady vs. New Orleans
Last week was one of Brady’s worst games in his career. His streak of throwing a touchdown pass in 52 straight games is over. He has had little success with his “weapons” this year. But, he is still Tom Brady. The Patriots will look to rebound in a big way, and with one of the best pass catchers in the NFL returning in Rob Gronkowski, Brady will have a huge day. Griffin should have success against a struggling Cowboys defense, but nowhere near the amount that Brady is going to have this weekend.
Matt Forte vs. New York Giants
Adrian Peterson is the best running back in the NFL, and was the number one overall pick in most fantasy drafts, but this week he goes against a Panthers defense who has a very stout front seven. Rookie Star Lotulelei and Luke Kuechly will be zoned in to stop the run. Matt Forte is one of the best running backs in StarStreet’s point system, and will have a great day against the worst defense in the NFL in the New York Giants. They have not been able to stop anyone this season, and Forte will have well over 100 yards from scrimmage in what looks to be an offensive outburst by the Bears.
Doug Martin vs. Philadelphia
Marshawn Lynch is one of the more pure runners in the NFL, but he does not catch many passes, which is a staple in StarStreet’s point system. The Titans rush defense is also an underrated bunch ranked in the top half as far as rushing yards against is concerned. Doug Martin goes against an Eagles team who have struggled against running backs this season, and despite teams passing a lot on the Eagles defense, they also have allowed over 100 yards against per game on the ground. Martin will be utilized heavily by the Bucs, and rookie quarterback Mike Glennon will look to dump it off to Martin a number of times. Martin is the better pick for this week.
Randall Cobb vs. Baltimore
Victor Cruz has been one of the best fantasy wide receivers this entire season, but this week he faces the Chicago Bears, who despite struggling in pass defense so far this season, still possess a threat to shut down opposing receivers. Cruz will likely go against the Bears nickel corner Isaiah Frey who has a 1.7 grade in pass coverage from PFF this season, which is good for 18th in the NFL. Randall Cobb goes against a Ravens secondary who has struggled mightily against slot receivers this season. Cobb will be used in the slot, but can also be used out of the backfield (as he did last week) or split out wide. Jimmy Smith is the likely foe for Cobb, and Smith has graded as a negative five by PFF in over 200 snaps this season. Cobb will have a huge day.
Don’t forget, Pick 5 can be played on our site as well.
