  • According to the Philly Voice, Philadelphia Eagles running back Wendell Smallwood has received fewer practice reps than rookie Donnel Pumphrey during training camp.
  • Smallwood struggled as a rookie, earning a 41.6 overall grade in 164 snaps in 2016. He played only 72 snaps in the first 10 weeks of the season.
  • The running back forced seven missed tackles last season. His 18.9 elusive rating ranked him 11th out of 13 rookie running backs (minimum 50 carries). During his first year, he averaged 2.2 yards after contact per attempt, and his longest run went for only 19 yards.
  • Smallwood is still expected to make the 53-man roster, but he may be the No. 4 running back on Philadelphia’s depth chart behind LeGarrette Blount, Darren Sproles and Pumphrey.
