Washington S Su'a Cravens expected back this week

  • NFL Insider Ian Rapoport Reports that Washington Redskins S Su’a Cravens is expected to report back to the team early this week. It has been two weeks since the Redskins placed the second-year safety on the exempt/left squad list after he reportedly stepped away from the game to consider retirement.
  • In 2016, Cravens played 294 snaps for the team and ended the season ranked 32nd of 95 qualifying linebackers with a PFF overall grade of 78.5.
  • In an impressive rookie year, Cravens flashed potential against both the run and the pass. In limited action against the run (just 59 run defense snaps) Cravens produced 6 total stops, for a run stop percentage of 10.2 percent that ranked 16th of 79 inside linebackers with at least 50 run defense snaps. In coverage, Cravens allowed a passer rating of just 73.1, which ranked eighth of 92 linebackers with at least 50 coverage snaps.
  • Cravens was set to move to strong safety this year but played only three snaps this preseason before suffering a knee injury. In his absence, the Redskins turned to third year safety Deshazor Everett, but he struggled in coverage in team’s first game of the season, allowing four receptions from as many targets and a passer rating of 118.8 on throws into his primary coverage.
