- According to Adam Schefter, the Minnesota Vikings have cut offensive lineman J. Clemmings. Clemmings, a fourth-round draft pick in 2015, attempted a transition to guard this offseason after playing his first two seasons at tackle.
- At tackle for the 2015 and 2016 season, Clemmings’ performance never showed signs of improving. His play regressed from a poor rookie season in which he finished with a 48.1 overall grade to an even worse second-year, grading as the worst tackle among 75 qualifiers with an overall grade of 31.0.
- Clemmings’ biggest woes were found in pass protection. In 2016, he allowed 58 total pressures including a league high nine sacks and finishing with the seventh lowest pass blocking efficiency (91.5) on 539 pass block snaps.
- After moving to guard this offseason Clemmings’ play didn’t improve much grading poorly in two of the three preseason games played in and most recently earning a 47.9 overall grade on 51 snaps against Miami in the Viking’s fourth preseason game.
