  • According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Minnesota Vikings and CB Xavier Rhodes are close to agreeing terms on a contract extension. The deal is expected to be around $70 million over 5 years — this would make Rhodes the third-highest-paid cornerback with an average of around $14 million a year.
  • Rhodes only allowed a passer rating of 47.0 in 2016, which was the lowest of any cornerback, intercepting five passes and adding a further three pass breakups. His completion rate of 48 percent was the second-lowest among cornerbacks, allowing only 36 of the 75 passes thrown in his direction to be caught.
  • Although his numbers in coverage look good, his play was let down by the amount of penalties Rhodes committed. His 11 penalties were the third-most by any cornerback last season, seven of those penalties were coverage penalties that resulted in a first down.
