  • Kimberly A. Martin of the Washington Post reports that the Washington Redskins have placed wide receiver Terrelle Pryor on IR, which will end his first and possibly last season in Washington. Per Martin, Pryor opted to undergo surgery on Monday to help him fully recover from an ankle injury that he initially sustained in his team’s Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Rams.
  • Pryor signed a one-year deal with the team in the offseason, after a productive 2016 campaign in Cleveland. That year, he was the 12th most targeted receiver in the league with 126 passes being thrown his way. He caught 77 of the 83 catchable targets for 1007 yards and four touchdowns. Additionally, he accumulated 281 receiving yards from deep passes (passes that traveled at least 20 yards downfield), the 15th most among receivers, which likely led the Redskins to believe he could help replace the downfield production that they lost with the departure of DeSean Jackson. He ended the year with an average of 1.70 yards per route run, 34th best among receivers with at least 85 targets, and a PFF overall grade of 79.7 which ranked 31st among pass-catchers.
  • Despite high expectations for his first season in Washington, Pryor was unable to repeat the success he found during the 2016 campaign, and through nine games, he caught just 20-of-24 catchable targets for just 240 receiving yards. He will end the season with an average of 1.02 yards per route run and a PFF overall grade of 43.1, both the lowest marks among Redskins receivers.
  • However, Pryor’s absence from the team will not really impact the offense going forward, as Pryor was essentially phased out of the attack and replaced by second-year receiver Josh Doctson in Week 7. Since then, Doctson has been mightily productive for his team, catching 17-of-19 targets for 226 receiving yards and two touchdowns and has generated a passer rating of 108.1, 15th best among receivers with at least 25 targets in that span.
