Tampa Bay signs free agent CB Robert McClain

  • After spending time between the Chargers and Panthers in 2016, free agent cornerback Robert McClain has signed with the Buccaneers. McClain spent three seasons under Buccaneers’ defensive coordinator Mike Smith while in Atlanta from 2012 through 2014 and has now reunited with his former boss.
  • Now entering his seventh season in the league, McClain has played in just 17 games since the leaving Atlanta after the 2014 season and was limited to more of a situational role in 2016 by playing on just 40.6 percent of snaps.
  • McClain allowed a passer rating of 133.8 from the slot, third-worst among corners with at least 100 snaps in slot coverage.
