Takk McKinley could make preseason debut against Pittsburgh on Sunday

  • Atlanta Falcons edge defender Takkarist McKinley could make his debut on Sunday when the Falcons face the Steelers. McKinley is still recovering from shoulder surgery he had in the offseason and was held out of last week’s preseason opener against Miami but head coach Dan Quinn is optimistic he will play Sunday, “we're hopeful that if all goes well this week that he’ll get a shot at it in the next preseason game.”
  • McKinley finished the 2016 college season with an overall PFF grade of 89.0, which ranked seventh among edge defenders. He impressed rushing the passer with a pass-rush grade of 88.2 which ranked ninth among FBS edge defenders as well as impressing in run defense ranking 15th with a run defense grade of 83.2.
  • His pass-rush productivity (PRP) of 14.4 ranked tenth in the nation last season and also led all Pac-12 3-4 outside linebackers with a minimum of 200 pass-rush snaps (PRP measures pressure created on a per snap basis with weighting towards sacks).
